Washington wine is produced from grape varieties grown in the US State of Washington. Washington ranks second in the United States (behind California) in the production of wine. Yakima Valley is one of the few places on earth where European wine grapes (Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir) can still be grown on their own roots, a factor generally associated with high quality.
